A stop-motion puppet dancing Pepsi can from Michael Ritchie’s supernatural action comedy The Golden Child. Imprisoned by the evil Sardo Numspa (Charles Dance), the Golden Child (J.L. Reate) used his powers to transform a Pepsi can into a dancing figurine.
The puppet consists of an actual Pepsi can from the 1980’s when the filmed was created, then was reworked into a stop-motion puppet resembling a human figure that was brought to life by Industrial Light & Magic. The can is adhered to a bendable wire frame and includes nuts embedded in the feet. Multipole cans were used for this sequence and this is believed to be the only survivor from production.
