Animatronic fish featured in the production of the 2016 Wizarding World film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
This fish was served at the Fundraising Dinner for the Re-election of Senator Henry Shaw. Fish like these along with smaller Sardines were served do guests. This piece is made of foam latex and features attached plastic detailing such as eyes, lips and fins. The fish itself features small “bladders” inside that when activated would make the fish appear to breathe and move, along with small servos motors that would control the fins and make them appear to move (electronics untested). This piece shows slight wear from use in the film but remains in excellent, production used condition.
