Platoon M7 Bayonet

M7 bayonet used during the production of the 1986 Oliver Stone film Platoon. M7 bayonets were standard issue for US soldiers during the Vietnam War period and the film used this authentic M7 bayonet as a prop. The bayonet has a metal blade with a slight edge on it and a black plastic grip. The grip has white medical tape around it that has yellowed. The bayonet shows signs of wear and is missing its cross guard butt end and the screws that would attach the grip. The bayonet measures approximately 11.5″ (29.21cm) in length and is mounted on a custom display.
