On his way to school, Bastian (Barret Oliver) ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called “The Neverending Story,” Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by “The Nothing,” a darkness that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive.
This is a rare hand signed copy of the novel by author Michael Ende, that was gifted to actor Noah Hathaway who portrayed Atreyu in the film. This piece comes directly from the collection of the actor and features a hand written note inside reading” Dir Noah Hathaway Auf Gute Freundschaft, Michael 1986” in German, which roughly translates to “To Noah Hathaway, To Good Friends, Michael 1986” along with a hand drawn image of a horse, representing the characters horse in the film “Artax”. This book remains in excellent condition with a soft red fabric cover.
