Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009) – Viktor (Bill Nighy) VFX Sword Handle

Original SFX sword handle used in the production of the 2009 horror filmUnderworld: Rise of the Lycans. “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” is a prequel to the “Underworld” film series thatexplores the origins of the centuries old feud between vampires and lycans. It focuses on Lucian, the first werewolf with the ability to transform between human and lycan forms, who leads a rebellion against the tyrannical vampire king Viktor.

This piece can most noticeably be seen in the end fight where Viktor fights selene, and is a SFX version used for fight sequences and stab scenes where a full sword would be inserted in VFX afterwards. This piece features a long handle section made of resin and covered in faux leather with metal interlinked wraps. The handle section features a flat side with added felt for the actor to wield the sword. The sword features a silver guard section also made of resin and an attached pole section instead of the blade that features applied bright orange tape for the VFX process. This piece shows slight wear from use in the film but remains in excellent, production used condition.
