Gorilla Soldier Prop Rifle from Planet of the Apes

This vintage original prop rifle was used in the Planet of the Apes films and television series (1968 – 1974). The rifle is constructed of wood and painted in faux wood finish with muzzle painted black. Cast metal hammer and ejection port in top center is painted black. Measures 35” x 3” x 6” (89 cm x 7 ½ cm x 15 cm). With black web belt carrying strap attached to metal hoops on stock and barrel. Apes, the dominant species on Earth in the distant future, use rifles such as this throughout the television series, and before that in the epic motion pictures. The rifle is in excellent, production-used, vintage condition with some slight wear from action scenes.
