An original poster concept from “Last Action Hero”, the John McTiernan film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, by poster artist Morgan Weistling. Weistling was one of the most prolific poster artists in the 80’s and early 90’s, and painted the one sheets of movies like “Last Action Hero” or “Innerspace”. Weistling did a lot of concept work for this poster. It’s also one of the films of which he painted the iconic final one sheet we all know. Created while working with art director Jeff Bacon.
Some fun background; Arnold and Jeff (they were close friends) asked Morgan and Drew Struzan (the top guys at Jeff’s agency at the time) to do their best and present ideas. In the end, Arnold preferred Morgan’s sketches. This original production poster concept art is drawn in pencil on vellum and taped to paper. The area of the drawing itself measures 11.4″ x 7.4″ (29cm x 19cm).
