Prometheus (2012) – Engineer VFX Scanning Maquette

Original visual effects scanning maquette used in the production of the Ridley Scott science fiction film Prometheus. The discovery of a clue to mankind’s origins on Earth leads a team of explorers to the darkest parts of the universe. Two brilliant young scientists lead the expedition. Shaw (Noomi Rapace) hopes that they will meet a race of benevolent, godlike beings who will in some way verify her religious beliefs, while Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) is out to debunk any spiritual notions. However, neither the scientists nor their shipmates are prepared for the unimaginable terrors that await them.

This maquette features the Engineers head, which was seen in the main chambers aboard the derelict ship. The Engineers were introduced in the film and explained the original “space jockey” mystery introduced in the original Alien. This maquette head was created by the model miniature makers during production to scan and aid in the creation of the full scale set piece. This piece is made of cast resin and features intricate cast in details such as small alien lettering around the face. The head is attached to a round wooden display base and the entire thing has been painted an aged gunmetal and covered in a dark green patina to simulate aging. This piece remains in excellent, production used condition.
