Paranorman – Stop Motion Zombie Face

Stop motion “Zombie” face used in the production of the small scale stop-motion Laika film Paranorman. Young Norman Babcock (Kodi Smit-McPhee) has the ability to speak with the dead — and he often prefers their company to that of the living. Norman receives word from his strange Uncle Prenderghast (John Goodman) that a centuries-old witch’s curse on their town is real and about to come true — and that only Norman can stop it. When zombies rise from their graves, Norman must summon all his courage and compassion and push his paranormal abilities to the limit to save his fellow townspeople.

This intricately made face was used on one of the zombie characters in the film, where numerous versions of the faces were used and switched out to represent different emotions and facial expressions in the film. This piece was 3D printed by Laika in a very sturdy sandstone material. The face is hollow on the back where it would be attached to the characters head containing the eye’s and other facial details. On the back of the face there are three small rare earth magnets present along with lettering that was printed into the face reading “03 002″ and “R040” with others that denote where the face was used, what scene and in what order. The front of the face is hand painted. This piece sits on top of a custom made black acrylic stand that attaches to the face via the magnets present. This piece remains in excellent, production used condition.
