Preliminary storyboard used in the production of the hit Tim Burton 1989 superhero film Batman. Having witnessed his parents’ brutal murder as a child, millionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton) fights crime in Gotham City disguised as Batman, a costumed hero who strikes fear into the hearts of villains. But when a deformed madman who calls himself “The Joker” (Jack Nicholson) seizes control of Gotham’s criminal underworld, Batman must face his most ruthless nemesis ever while protecting both his identity and his love interest, reporter Vicki Vale (Kim Basinger).
These early storyboards, or “Batboards” as they are referred to were used early on in the production process of the film. This specific piece features and image of Jack Nicholson before he fell into the vat of acid that turns him into the Joker. This piece is printed in black ink on 8.5″ x 11″ white paper and has hand written notes on the bottom. This item is dated “1988” and remains in excellent, production used condition.
