A Light-Up Formic Egg from Gavin Hood’s 2012 Sci-Fi adaption Ender’s Game. In the film, Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) is recruited to lead the International Fleet against the alien Formic race. This piece is from the scene when Ender meets face to face with the Formic queen.
This egg features a high level of detail including bulges, ridges and veins. Made from a hollow molded resin and has a custom LED light rig inside. Mimicking a webbing effect, the egg is finished with melted plastic pieces stretched along the outside. The rig is made of a strip of multi-color LED lights wrapped around a custom made metal “U” bracket previously attached to a servo meant to swivel the bracket to create a movement effect inside the egg. Currently the white strip of LED lights is wired to a 12 volt transformer and can be plugged directly into an electrical wall outlet. The multi-colored LED strip has wiring protruding from the egg, but is not currently connected to a power source. The piece in good, production used condition and measures 15” x 10” x7” (38cm x 25.4cm x 17.7cm).
