Lost (TV) – Hero Satellite Phone

A Satellite Phone from the supernatural mystery television series Lost. This prop multi-function touch-screen satellite phone was made by the production for use in several episodes. The phone was used by the freighter crew to monitor the location of the various team members on the island. This phone was specifically used by all principal cast members including: Charlie, Desmond, Hurley, Jack, Kate, Naomi and Sayid in the season 3 episodes “Catch-22”, “The Brig”, “Through the Looking Glass”, and “The Beginning of the End”. This phone prop was enhanced on screen using CGI for the multi-touch screen and on-off light in the top right hand corner which were added in post-production. Several shots remain in the episodes where the phone can be seen in its non-CGI enhanced state (see accompanying screen captures). The Lost satellite phones were redesigned at the end of season 3 to include a functioning “on-off” light in order to reduce the number of CGI enhanced effects shots. This is a hero light-up phone; the small red light in the top right corner is powered by two “AA” batteries and is turned on by an on/off switch located inside the battery compartment.
