A special effects “Shuriken” created by the artists at Amalgamated Dynamics for the sci-fi action film Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. The shuriken is a weapon first appearing in the Alien vs. Predator movie and invented by director Paul W. S. Anderson. The Predators wear these weapons on their legs and can easily snap it to its full size position. Constructed with six retractable blades the Shuriken is used when opened as a slashing weapon and is immune to a Xenomorph’s acid blood.
This particular shuriken was used during the death scene of Jesse (Kristen Hager) when she is quickly killed by the Wolf Predator and “pinned” to the wall. For this practical effect this Shuriken in an opened configuration, two of the shuriken’s blades were removed to produce the effect. This piece has bolts to attach it to the fiberglass cast torso to look impaled, as was worn by the actor. The shuriken is made of resin and painted silver and bronze with some production-distressing, weathering and studio blood. Measuring 28″ (20.3cm) from the back to the point of the blade at the front which itself measures 21″ (53.3cm) out from the chest. A very impressive piece from this very popular film franchise.
