Original “Hunter Killer” mini drone featured in the 1996 Universal Studios ride attraction and film Terminator 2: 3D – Battle Across Time. The attraction is a mini-sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day and reunites director James Cameron and the main cast from the movie, including Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator, Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor. The show was presented in two parts; a pre-show where a Cyberdyne Systems company hostess shows guests a brief video presentation about the company’s innovations, and the main show, where live performers interact with a 3D film.
This is one of the original drones used in the attraction and film, and is an updated design from the Hunter-Killer robots featured in Terminator 2. The drone is a micro-turbine airborne Hunter-Killer developed by Skynet. The Mini Hunter is an agile predator with a single underslung Plasma cannon and a compact, high-lift aerodyne fan which turns on frictionless bearings in order to reduce noise levels. This piece is constructed of cast resin and features a main body with a large faux fan turbine engine and two round eyes in the front that light up red when the piece is plugged in (an attached cord is present that has a wall plug adaptor). There is a large plasma gun present that hangs from the main body and is attached via a metal bracket which allows it to be placed in different positions. The entire piece has been chromed giving it the appearance of the T-800 robots as seen in the film. This piece shows slight wear in the form of small scrapes and scuffs from use in the attraction, but remains in excellent, production used condition.
