X-Files The Movie Animatronic Alien Arms

Production-made animatronic alien arms created for The X: Files film from 1998. In the climax of the film Mulder and Scully (David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) are attempting to escape an alien spacecraft. During their escape alien embryos begin bursting out of glass chambers and attempt to grab them. The scene was accomplished using this animatronic arms. These arms are made of foam rubber and have hard plastic fingernails, some of the foam is cracking at the joints and one nail is missing. The arm is painted in various shades of green and arms are built over a metal armatures. There is a series of cables that can operate the motions of the hands and fingers with a handle that controls the wrist on one of the arms. These animatronic alien arms measure approximately 61″ (154cm) in length for the right and 44″ (111.7cm) for the left.
