Apocalypse Now – Lance B. Johnson’s Dog Tags & Necklace

Lance B. Johnson’s Dog Tags & Necklace from Francis Ford Coppola’s war drama, Apocalypse Now. Based on a book, this movie takes place during the Vietnam War, and Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) is sent on a dangerous mission into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade colonel (Marlon Brando) who has set himself up as a god among a local tribe.

This set of dog tags and necklace were acquired by the production for use by Sam Bottoms as “Lance B. Johnson”. The dog tags have tape wrapped around them to reduce the noise they would make touching each other and a section of clear plastic tubing over the ball chain for comfort. The rope necklace features a tribal symbol charm attached. Included with the dog tags and necklace is a costume tag that has “Sam Bottoms, dry only” written in pencil on one side and a note in pen on the reverse.
