An SFX TV Remote from Gary Ross’ 1998 comedy drama, Pleasantville. In the film, a mysterious TV repairman supplies a brother and sister with a magical remote which transports the pair into a 1950’s family sitcom, where there choices influence major consequences. One of two light-up controllers made for the film. This central piece is given to David (Tobey Maguire) by the mysterious TV repairman (Don Knotts).
SFX TV Remote is made of plastic and metal, this controller features a small red light bulb at the top, with a red ‘power’ button and white ‘mute’ button. There are also three black screens above ‘volume,’ ‘channel,’ and ‘contrast.’ The remote has a removable lid which houses the battery compartment and interior electronics which requires four AA batteries to operate, however it’s electronics will need repair in order for it to operate as it did on set. With only some minor wear due to production use and age, and no longer lights up, however it remains in otherwise good production used condition.
