Pitch Black (2000) – Cryogenic Locker with Puppet

A miniature cryogenic locker with puppet used in the production of the science fiction film Pitch Black starring Vin Diesel.

This screen used cryogenic Locker was one of the hero filming miniatures ripped out of the cargo container in the crash of the merchant vessel Hunter Gratzner in the opening crash sequence in the film Pitch Black (2000). Each fiberglass and epoxy miniatures was rigged with pneumatically actuated pull cables that launched each cryogenic locker out of the cargo container at the point of the spaceship’s impact.
