Original C3-PO “red” hand used in the production of the 2015 JJ Abrahms film Star Wars: Episode VI – The Force Awakens. Set thirty years after Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens follows Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, and Han Solo’s search for Luke Skywalker and their fight in the Resistance, led by General Leia Organa and veterans of the Rebel Alliance, against Kylo Ren and the First Order, a successor to the Galactic Empire.
One of the distinctive aspects of C-3PO in The Force Awakens is his red arm and hand, a decision made by the director to distinguish the droid from his other appearances. This hand was used by the actor who portrayed C-3PO in the end sequence of the cinematic trailer where his hand is shown placed on the head of R2-D2. This piece is made of a dense urethane rubber and features the top hand section and individual fingers. The palm section is left open where a cloth glove would be present. The hand is completed by cast in mechanical ridged detailing and the hand shows slight wear in the form of small chips in the paint, but remains in excellent, production used condition.
