Mjollnir Handle Section used in the filming of the Marvel Studios superhero sequel Thor: The Dark World. In ancient times, the gods of Asgard fought and won a war against an evil race known as the Dark Elves. The survivors were neutralized, and their ultimate weapon — the Aether — was buried in a secret location. Hundreds of years later, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) finds the Aether and becomes its host, forcing Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to bring her to Asgard before Dark Elf Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) captures her and uses the weapon to destroy the Nine Realms — including Earth.
During filming there were various types of hammers used such as a hero closeup, resin version and lighter version made from rubber and foam such as this piece, which was used in the film but broke apart from the main hammer section during filming which you can clearly see at the top of the handle. This well used piece is made of a sponge type urethane rubber and features a metal rod down the center for weight and stability. The handle features cast in detailing and has been painted brown with silver accents with remnants where a real leather strap was attached at the end.
