An elder predator bio-mask from Paul W. S. Anderson’s science-fiction action film AVP: Alien Vs. Predator. Set in 2004, Alien vs. Predator follows a group of paleontologists, archaeologists and others assembled by billionaire Charles Bishop Weyland for an expedition to a remote island off Antarctica, after a mysterious heat signal is discovered under the ice. Elder predators oversaw younger predators’ first hunt, in which they kill xenomorphs as a rite of passage.
Designed and fabricated by the Academy Award®-winning special effects group Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. (ADI), this unused fibreglass bio-mask stylized for an elder uses a Scar (Ian Whyte) bio-mask as the base. The mask is painted metallic gold and silver with a large symbol on the forehead signifying a successful xenomorph kill; additional symbols drawn in brown ink along the edges of the forehead; a non-functional prop tri-laser on the temple; a reflective silver-colour visor; and dangling brown leather cords featuring metallic beads of various sizes and shape. The bio-mask is in good overall condition with some wear from use handling and age, including scuffs in the paint. Dimensions: 46 cm x 21 cm x 16 cm (18 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ x 6 1/2″)
